What "three systems" means in practice

LePresso Trezza with its ground-coffee adapter alongside Nespresso and Dolce Gusto capsules

Capsule systems are not cross-compatible. A Nespresso capsule is a small cylinder; a Dolce Gusto capsule is wider and carries powdered milk inside it. Normally each system requires its own machine.

The Trezza ships with a capsule adapter in the box that lets it run more than one system, plus ground coffee. The practical result: one person drinks a Nespresso espresso and another in the same household drinks a Dolce Gusto latte, from the same machine and the same patch of counter.

The exact switching procedure and the number of adapters are not stated on the packaging — check the included user manual.

The 1-litre tank

That is roughly double the Baristo's 550 ml. Using the standard 40 ml espresso volume, a litre gives around 25 cups before a refill — a difference you feel when hosting.

What 20 bar means

The prevailing standard in home capsule machines is 19 bar. The Trezza delivers 20. The difference in the cup is limited and no transformation in taste should be expected; the practical effect is that the pump is not constantly running at its ceiling.

Put plainly: the reason to buy this machine is the multi-system support, not the pressure figure.

The limits

  • No milk frother. Milk drinks are possible only through ready-made Dolce Gusto capsules. For freshly frothed milk, the option is the LePresso Brevissimo.
  • No built-in grinder. It accepts ground coffee, not whole beans.
  • Larger and heavier than the Baristo. 3.6 kg against 2.2 kg. If space is the first constraint, the Baristo fits better.
  • Does not make Turkish coffee. That is a different appliance: the Cezvara.
